Last night I was trying to put shoes on my girls to get us out the door for a dinner date with friends. Hadley pushes her tummy out and says "I am trying to make my tummy big like mommy's."
I wanted to cry, I'm not going to lie. I've been working so hard to flatten my tummy after babies. And it's far from flat, but certainly better than it's been.
But I also had to laugh.
I'm chalking the comment off to her memory of me being pregnant with Hayden. She is obsessed with babies in tummies after spending time with her Aunt, who is due with my first niece or nephew next month.
*Sigh* The sh*t kids say.

what's that smell?
I traveled this weekend with my girls... During our layover in Phoenix, I had to use the ladies room. I shoved my double wide stroller into an exceptionally tiny bathroom, where we had to wait for the handicap stall to become available.
While we were waiting, Hadley yells: "Mommy? What's that smell?" And in her defense, it stunk in there. Bad. Fortunately, the stall opened up and I could distract her with shuffling her in there.

on who-hahs. again.
The other day I had both the girls with me on one of our many trips to Target. And I had to go to the bathroom. Per the usual, I had an audience of two little girls. One of whom speaks in sentences and interested in things pertaining to who-has, poop and princesses. And she became intrigued by what I had to offer...
Hadley: "Mommy? What's that? Is that hair on your who-hah?" she SHOUTED.
Let me remind you... We are in Target. A public bathroom. Two other women were in there. I would have loved to have seen their faces, but I was too busy laughing.
Ahhh... now if she would just go on the potty.

terrible twos tuesday: "my boobs hurt"
Be sure to enter to win the buggy mobile for your little one. Click here for details on the giveaway, which ends August 8th.
____________________________Hadley has figured out the term "my _____ hurts." I think she knows what it means.
We took her to urgent care for croup cough and when the nurse was trying to take her temperature in her arm pit, she started to cry. I mean LOST HER SHIT! And she said "my back hurts" in between sobs.
But the funniest is when we put her in her car seat and she said "my boobs hurt." We both laughed pretty hard. And then we loosened her straps. She probably got that from me complaining when my boobs are engorged.
What funny things do your little ones say?

family friday: hadley quip
This morning I was nursing Hayden on our recliner and Hadley asked to come up. She said "The babies eating boob!" I nodded yes in response. Then she said "BIG boobs!" And her hand plunged down the other side of my shirt.

family friday: hadley quip
Last night as Hadley finished up her dinner, she laid her head on the table and said "I sleep." So we put jammies on, she enjoyed her evening milk and a few minutes later she was out. Like a light.

hadley quip
This morning, Hadley and I were hanging out on the bed. She was having her morning milk. I, my morning coffee. She sat up and started saying something to me. As I was trying to decode her words, she passed gas and said "I tooted." I'm amazed at the words/phrases she picks up and reuses.
Happy Mothers Day!

Hadley quip
While I was pumping my boobs this morning, Hadley was enjoying her cup of milk. She tapped her cup against one of the pump bottles and said "Cheers!"
Then she said, "The mama, the pump."
Exactly... I'm one with the pump.

"Thank you, Big Daddy."
We're not sure where she got "Big Daddy" from, but it offered a good laugh.

hadley quip
I think I've written before that Hadley loves Dora the Explorer. I mean LOVES! And I would like her to be swiped by Swiper, but that really doesn't matter (did anyone watch Modern Family last night where the gay couple was plotting Dora's death?). My child LOVES Dora. Which also shows that we let her watch the boob tube sometimes.
We are temporarily staying in my mother's home while I recover from squeezing a watermelon out of a quarter sized hole. So we decided that since we aren't paying any rent, and in an effort to keep my mother's home clean, we would hire a housekeeping service to come every other week. It's lovely, since our hands are incredibly full at the moment. At least two days a month the beds are made and the toilets are clean.
These two very sweet ladies were here today cleaning and Hadley was peeking around the corner of the bathroom at one of them. She said "Hola" to Hadley and we tried to get her to say "Hola" back. Instead, she said "DORA! Do, do, do, do, do Dora!"
I was embarrassed, but was a little impressed that she put all that together.
